David claims that this moment in the desert where Jesus was tempted was a moment where Jesus became our merciful and faithful High Priest that was tempted like us in every way. This is a substitutionary work. A moment where Jesus felt what you felt and became your source or path to reliance on the Spirit above the flesh in your most vulnerable moments. You don’t have to rely on your flesh in your weakest moments. You don’t have to rely on stones becoming bread when you can hope and trust in the spoken Word of God for your moment of weakness.
